Before Treatment

  • Please wait at least six months after using isotretinoin (Accutane) before your SkinPen procedure, as it may impair proper wound healing.

  • Discontinue prescription topical products, retinoids, exfoliants, or harsh skin treatments at least 24 hours before the procedure.

  • Do not take anti-inflammatory medications at least 3 days before your treatment. (i.e., Advil, Motrin, Aleve, Naprosyn)

  • Avoid excessive Alcohol, Garlic, Ginkgo Biloba, Fish Oils, and Vitamin E for 5-7 days before your treatment unless recommended by your Physician. This may help to decrease the risk of bruising during your treatment.

  • Don’t wax, shave, or take electrolysis to the treatment area one week prior.

  • Avoid blood thinning medications and agents one week before your microneedling treatment. Please speak with your providing Physician before stopping any. (i.e.heparin or warfarin, clopidogrel, and aspirin)

  • If you have an active skin infection (e.g., cold sores, active acne, or eczema), postpone the microneedling treatment until it is resolved.

  • On the day of your appointment, please ensure your skin is clean and free from any makeup, lotions, or oils.

  • Plan for Downtime: The treated area may be pink and mildly inflamed (similar to the appearance of mild sunburn) for 24-48 hours following your SkinPen procedure.

Post-treatment advice:

  • Avoid sun exposure and tanning for 72 hours after treatment. you may apply sunscreen 24 hours after the procedure.

  • Avoid using any skincare or applying makeup for 24 hours.

  • Skinfuse® Lift HG may be applied on the day of the procedure to assist with skin hydration. Re-apply, as needed, up to 24 hours post-procedure (I will supply you with the Skinfuse® Lift)

  • Avoid skincare products with retinoids, exfoliants, or acids for at least 72 hours.

  • Avoid touching, scratching, or picking at the treated area. Doing so can introduce bacteria, cause irritation, and risk scarring.

  • Drink plenty of water to keep your body hydrated, which promotes overall skin health.

  • Avoid intense physical activities, such as heavy exercise or sweating, for at least 48 hours post-treatment.

After microneedling, your skin may feel sensitive and tight, like a sunburn. Wash your face and hands with a gentle cleanser and cool water. Wait 4 hours after the procedure before washing your face. You may have redness, bruising, or swelling, which is normal. Use only the skin-fuse Lyft for the next 24 hours. To prevent infection, use a clean pillowcase and bed sheets that night.

Day 1-3

Day 2-7

After your microneedling treatment, your skin may start to peel within 3-5 days due to dryness and flaking caused by an increased turnover of skin cells. It's crucial that you don't pick at or exfoliate the treated skin. Instead, allow the old skin to flake off naturally and keep your skin moisturized at all times by applying hyaluronic acid serum.

Day 5-7

Microneedling is a cosmetic procedure that can improve the texture and appearance of your skin. After the procedure, wait for 7 days before resuming your usual skincare routine. To achieve the best results, it is recommended to undergo 3-4 initial treatments, spaced 4 weeks apart. This will help to continuously stimulate collagen production and promote cellular renewal. After the initial treatments, follow-up with 2-3 sessions every year to refresh your skin and maintain its radiance. With microneedling, you can confidently achieve beautiful, healthy, and youthful-looking skin.

Skin Care Tips

STAY HYDRATED

Proper hydration is crucial for maintaining healthy skin and after microneedling, it plays a vital role in collagen production. The more water you drink, the more collagen cells your body can produce.

PROTECT YOUR SKIN FROM THE SUN

It is recommended to apply sunscreen or a moisturizer with SPF of 30 or greater on a daily basis (after 24 hours post procedure) it is crucial to apply sunscreen continuously for the first two weeks. Avoid going outside without sunscreen and refrain from spending extended periods in the sun during the first week as your skin will be more vulnerable to sun damage.

MOISTURIZE, MOISTURIZE, MOISTURIZE!

If you are experiencing dryness in your skin, it's recommended that you moisturize with unscented and gentle moisturizers. You may also use Hyaluronic acid serum and natural products such as coconut oil to keep your skin hydrated. It's also important to use a mild cleanser made with natural ingredients.

Avoid Infections

To prevent infection, it is important to wash your hands thoroughly before touching your face. Additionally, make sure your towels, bed sheets and pillowcase are clean. Avoid using makeup for at least 24 hours after your microneedling procedure. It is also recommended to protect your skin by avoiding swimming pools, strenuous exercise, and saunas for the first 3 days following your treatment.

AVOID EXFOLIANTS, RETINOL, AND VITAMIN C

It is advisable to avoid using skincare products that contain harsh chemicals, scents, or glycolic and alpha hydroxy acids. Additionally, it is recommended to avoid using retinol and vitamin C serums for the first 48 hours following your microneedling procedure. Once the 2-day period is over, slowly introduce your regular skincare regimen into your daily routine. It is also recommended to avoid using strong anti-aging formulas or scrubs until the flaking has stopped and you have fully healed.
